Bluetip Acropora Staghorn Coral
Picture was taken in January 2002 with a Nikon Coolpix 950 Digital Camera, No Flash Obtained January 12th, 2002 from Greg Scheimer Greg happen to be dropping off a fairly large frag of this coral to the LFS I was at. This tips broke off the coral and the LFS owner gave them to me. I normally mount staghorn corals horizontal to get growth like a bush and not like a twig. These frags were to small for that. The tallest frag is less than 1 inch tall. Hopefully this will be enough to get bushy growth. |
Bluetip Acropora Staghorn Coral
Picture was taken in March 2002 with a Nikon Coolpix 950 Digital Camera, No Flash This coral shows some interesting changes. 1 tip died off. 3 tips changed color to green. 1 tip stayed blue. How on earth can the conditions in this one spot be different enough to make the color change on only 3 of the 4 tips. Depending on how this coral continues to grow it could really be interesting. In the 3 months since the last picture it does not show much vertical growth but it has fully encrusted a new base. |
Bluetip Acropora Staghorn Coral
Picture was taken in July 2002 with a Nikon Coolpix 950 Digital Camera, No Flash Impressive growth for 4 months. It has completely encrusted a new base which is now fairly thick. I am fairly impressed with the vertial growth this coral has shown as well. |
September 2002: The vertical growth kept going straight up. It grew into the output stream of a Gemini powerhead which was killing the growth tip. The branch was snapped off at the base and given to another reefer.
