Scopas Tang - Zembrasoma scopas
Picture taken December 2005, Nikon D70 Digital SLR, Nikkor 18-70mm DX lens

Purchased: December 2005.

This image captures some of the beauty of a Scopas Tang. This fish common changes colors. It very often has a white head with dark body.

Most of the time the stripes displayed here are not seen.

I was expecting some fighting when this fish was added to the display tank as the Purple Tang is from the same family. But I have to admit the fighting has lasted much longer than anticipated. The fighting is no longer fierce and damaging to the fish, just extensive chasing. However, both fish are eating very well and this new comer has no problems defending off the Purple Tang.

This shows the scopas tang six months later. It is eating well and getting plump.

This is a great shot of the scopas tang and purple tang showing their love.. err hate for each other. They used to do this violently trying to establish dominance. Neither won the fight. Now they do this with no bodily injury every few minutes and swim together peacefully.
