Purple Coralline Algae

Pictured here is a form of non-articulated (encrusting) crustose corraline algae.

To everyone who says you can’t grow coralline algae under metal halide lighting take a look at the size of this chunk I was able to remove from my back glass. The actual piece was much larger but it broke up into to many small chunks. These few larger chunks laying on my counter top are good enough to show my point.

Just incase the first massive coralline chunk didn’t impress you, here is a second one even larger than the first one.
