Blue Tip Acropora sp. (unknown species)

Blue Tip Acropora (Acropora sp.), just added to display tank. Picture taken December 2005, Nikon D70 Digital SLR, Sigma 105mm macro lens This is a unidentified species of acropora added to the display tank in December 2005. It has been showing excellent polyp extension as can be seen here. It appears to have blue highlights (I love blue Acropora).

The picture was taken at a fairly sharp angle to block light reflecting back from the metal halide lighting above.

Blue Tip Acropora (Acropora sp.), 5 months later. Picture taken May 2006, Nikon D70 Digital SLR, Sigma 105mm macro lens The coral has browned up considerably over the past few months. From time to time the growth tips turn a bright blue. Sometimes it is lighter such as a whiter color as pictured here. Overall the coral is very healthy, excellent polyp extension and showing new growth.
