Purple Encrusting Montipora sp.

Purple encrusting Montipora sp., several months growth. Picture taken December 2006, Nikon D70 Digital SLR, Sigma 105mm Macro lens My apologies for the horrible picture which is not typical of the images I post on this web site. This coral is at a very step angle to the glass which distorts the image. This image is the best I have been able to get over the past few months. This coral has been in the display since the summer months which is about 6 months. It has doubled in size in that time yet it is still tiny in size. It is a brilliant pink/purple color with the daylight halides on yet with just actinics on it glows a brilliant blue which is an odd florescent color.
