Orange Sponge. Picture was taken in April 1999.
Sony Mavica FD91 digital camera, no flash

This orange sponge was added to the tank March 12th, 1999. It has since had little growth and areas where my hand touched it have died back a little. It is also possible that this sponge does not like direct lighting.

I've had problems with this sponge falling over. It doesn't seem to be grabbing onto the live rock. I used a small plastic toothpick super glued to a rock and then stuck the toothpick into the sponge. I hope this solved that problem.

This sponge seemed to show no growth during the months I've had it. The tank was feed regularly with phytoplankton of various sizes. A few people suggested feeding the tank some beta-meal which I never was able to try.

Over a few weeks course this sponge started to turn white. About 70% of it had turned white and it was getting overgrown by algae. I decided to remove it from the system. It was removed on October 16th, 1999.
