Foxface Rabbit Fish - Lo vulpinus. Picture taken November 1999.
Minolta 7000 SLR, 35mm, ASA200, No Flash, (Scanned)

Purchased: November 20th, 1999.

The Foxface Fish is a rabbitfish which is a member of the Siganidae Family. This is an active fast growing fish.

The spines on the dorsal and anal fins are venomous. Be very careful with this fish.

In the wild this fish tends to reach a size close to 10 inches.

The picture shows the fish during its first week in the tank. You can see it was a skinny fish as some of the bones are visible. However, once the fish developed an appetite it quickly gained weight.

Here you can see how the fish changes color when it feels stressed. This happens all the time with this fish. Any quick movement in front of the tank can trigger this.

You can also see how in three months since the last picture that the fish has gained a lot of weight and is not so skinny anymore.

Foxface is really getting plump now and has grown a bit too. I would have to say that this is not the smartest fish. He always seems to get outsmarted by the tangs.

I'm not sure what he is doing here... not a very good hiding spot.
